Holly playing with fire Robyn Saturday morning Robyn doing something at the edge of Cascade Lake... Looking at her reflection? Rinsing her hands? Waiting to scoop up a tasty salmon for breakfast? I guess we'll never know. Some sort of fungus growing on a dead log, with a fringe of water droplets from the rain. Froehler at the base of the waterfall that gives "Cascade Lake" its name A yellow mushroom growing out of the leaf litter. Hey, what do you want from me? I never claimed to be a mycologist or anything. Robyn taking a break on the trail to shed her pack and eat a plum Froehler paddling the canoe that, miraculously, awaited us at Queer Lake. We took all the packs around the point to the campsite and went back for Holly and Robyn. A view of our campsite from the end of our "dock"--visible behind the boulder is the top of a lean-to that was constructed for the site at some point. Robyn taking a dip in Queer Lake Mike & Holly having a cup of coffee and enjoying the afternoon sun Our tent On a solo paddle around the lake just after dawn I cam across this loon... Probably one of the ones that serenaded us all evening and into the night. The lake was like glass Another early-morning occupant of a side bay--a beaver! The "low-rent" district of Queer Lake, on the other side of the point Sunday breakfast--blueberry pancakes, fried tomatoes, sausage, etc. Why do we always eat better in the deep woods than at home? How many miles to the next lake? Does anyone know where we are? Looks like a frog to me. It sure beats Jersey City Filtering drinking water--thirsty work
